“Like DEFCON 0”: AriZona Iced Tea’s iconic 99-cent cans may soon see a price hike thanks to Trump’s tariffs, and people aren’t happy
For more than 30 years, AriZona Iced Tea has refused to budge from its iconic 99-cent tallboy price tag. But founder and CEO Don Vultaggio said recent White House trade policies might finally force his hand.
The change would mark the first increase in the drink’s cost since the early 1990s. Although inflation and supply costs have long threatened the price, the company has absorbed those pressures for decades. Now, a spike in aluminum tariffs is creating a challenge that could be too big to ignore.
What to know about Wplace, the social art experiment taking over the global map one pixel at a time
If you’re a regular on Reddit, you probably know about r/place. Since 2017, it’s been one of the best social experiments on the internet. Created by Wordle creator John Wardle, r/place allowed users to paint a single pixel at a time. They were provided with a 16-color palette, and it wasn’t long until users were creating things like memes, the American flag, and even the Mona Lisa solely out of these tiny pixels.
Wplace is like r/place, but with a twist. Like Wardle’s creation, users are invited to paint a single pixel — but the difference is, they’re not drawing on a blank canvas: they’re drawing on a world map.
